Manojdevi's story

Manojdevi Kumavat, originally from Rajasthan, moved to Goa in 1997 after getting married. Initially a housewife, she shifted to Anjuna where she learned tailoring through a government initiative. Seven years ago, she joined Project Tres after meeting Farida and Carla through a local women's organization.

Carla saw the skills and the potential of the participants, including Manojdevi's expertise in tailoring. Under Carla's guidance, she learned woodwork and painting, acquiring new skills in a six-month span. Grateful for the opportunity, Manojdevi found financial independence through fair payment for her work, allowing her to buy what she needs without relying solely on her husband's income, which provided her with an unprecedented sense of pride and accomplishment.
And that - above anything else - is what transformed her life.

Manodjevi never had a source of income before, so working for Project Três is seen by her as a gift and an opportunity she doesn't take for granted. She values time, realizing its importance, and has become punctual and disciplined in her work schedule. The project has instilled a sense of growth and belief in herself, and she humbly credits Carla for positively impacting her and other women’s lives.

Manojdevi studied only up to the 5th grade, and she wishes she had studied further. Nevertheless, today she is one of Project Três’ stock managers in Goa. She acknowledges the project's significance, not only for herself but for her family's pride in her achievements. Manojdevi expresses a fear of reverting to a life of monotony without the project, emphasizing the importance of continued support for women like her.

Manojdevi sees Project Tres as a lifeline, which gives her the means to break free from traditional roles and aspire for more in life. She hopes for ongoing support and is determined to fly higher in her journey.
And let's be honest, with this willpower and courage, it's very likely that she will.
